FOILED! THEFT ATTEMPT FROM BAND'S VAN
When an opportunistic thief recently took a brick to one of the side windows in his brand new Mercedes Sprinter van, band leader Del Bingley was immensely relieved that he had decided to have them protected with 'Smoke' tinted SupaGlass.
The flashing red alarm light had not deterred the guy but SupaGlass had. The would-be thief had left the window shattered, but intact, and his brick on the pavement.
Del's Mercedes is his 'super van'. "I was told SupaGlass stopped the glass shattering, so I had it done but I did think it was less important than tinting." Just a few months afterwards, Del and his band were playing at the Savoy Hotel in London. He parked the Mercedes in nearby Savoy Hill - a well lit, busy street - for the evening. At the end of the session he went to collect the van and discovered the attempted break-in. "After I got over the initial shock, I was really pleased to think that I'd had the windows treated with SupaGlass," said Del.
"The guy had obviously had a couple of goes at the driver's window and then given up. If they had got into the van I don't know if they would have wrecked it, trashed it or tried to drive it away. But I got off lightly because they couldn't get in."
As soon as Del had had the glass replaced by a Mercedes dealer he drove to Pentagon's West London workshop and had the new window fitted with SupaGlass.
"I did think I didn't really need SupaGlass. But once you have been done you really take a different attitude about it. If they had been able to take my van away it would have cost me money, time and inconvenience."
"SupaGlass has paid for itself and it also gave me the satisfaction of knowing that some low life tried to steal what was mine and didn't get away with it!"
