FIRST CAR CROSSES THE LINE AT MERCEDES-BENZ WORLD AT BROOKLANDS
Mercedes-Benz is rightly proud of its 'firsts' at Brooklands. A Mercedes won the Montagu Cup on the first race day at Brooklands in 1907, and the first 'flying mile' was completed at the historic site in a modified Lightning Benz in 1913. Now the first car has been sold following the opening of DaimlerChrysler's flagship brand experience centre - Mercedes-Benz World - in October.
The Mercedes-Benz B-Class was sold to Peter Mukherjee, Managing Director of Pentagon Glass-Tech who was delighted to be the official first customer at Mercedes-Benz World.
Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz World, Peter O'Halloran said: "Mercedes-Benz World is a place where visitors can experience our brand on many levels, from our historical connection with Brooklands through to our latest innovations in safety and technology. In addition, we are happy to help those people who are actively looking to purchase a Mercedes-Benz.
"We have over a century of automotive innovation housed under the roof of Mercedes-Benz World, including a replica of the first car ever produced by Karl Benz in 1886, which sits alongside the very latest models.
"We are delighted that Pentagon Glass-Tech chose a Mercedes-Benz and to buy it from our site at Brooklands."
Peter Mukherjee commented: "Brooklands is steeped in history and has played such an important part in our automotive heritage that we were keen to be part of that history. As a supplier to Mercedes-Benz UK we felt it was appropriate to become the first customer for Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands and are looking forward to adding our latest Mercedes-Benz to the Pentagon Fleet."
